USAID’s Suaahara II Good Nutrition Program (2016 -2023) is an integrated program dedicated to improving the health and nutrition of children and mothers who fall within the 1000 days period, i.e. from conception until a child reaches 24 months of age. This period is recognized as the crucial time frame during which nutritional interventions have optimal impact on child growth and development.
The project was designed in consultation with the Government of Nepal and other stakeholders and contributed towards achieving the goals set by Nepal’s MultiSector Nutrition Plan. In particular, the project addressed undernutrition and anemia in children, women, and adolescent girls , water, sanitation and hygiene practices, including menstrual hygiene, production and consumption of diverse nutritious foods, health service access utilization, and social and gender norms relating to nutritional care of women and children.
In particular, the project addressed anaemia, reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, food diversity, health service utilization and social attitudes towards delayed marriage.

Transfer elements of key nutrition
and health services in few Suaahara ll districts
to Government of Nepal management.
